An analytical thinker with technical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and proven project management skills, I'm committed to clear communication and evidence-based conclusions following professional genealogy standards (as called for by the Association of Professional Genealogists, which I belong to). My goal isn't just to meet my clients' needs; it's to delight them with insightful findings when they're open to them. Originally trained to locate information in non-digitized books and documents, my experience as a software/web developer allows me to excel with digital resources as well.
As a graduate of the US Naval Academy (Annapolis, MD), a third generation US Navy veteran, and a descendant of a Revolutionary War veteran, I also have multiple direct ancestors whose brothers died in service to the country and I'm especially grateful for opportunities to research the lives of those who have served their country in uniform. Living near the Genealogical Library of the Sons of the American Revolution, I have easy access to resources especially well-suited to researching the men and women who served in the conflict during which the United States was founded 250 years ago.
A couple of notes on my own ancestry... On my father's side, my New World roots are deep and focused in New England, Quebec, and Canada's Maritime provinces. Owing to equally deep Brazilian heritage on my mother's side and time spent in Brazil, I'm conversationally fluent in Portuguese, which made learning Spanish in school fairly easy (and also helpful for improving Portuguese skills).
Also, I'd be remiss to not mention my Acadian ancestry. DNA test results indicate that my paternal line traces to the Acadian settler Etienne Hébert. Learning the history of the Acadian experience, which is the history of so many of my ancestors, has been a highlight of researching my own family.
